Build a portable standalone device able to measure and monitor decibel output on festivals and events.

Job Description

Because the purpose of the device was aimed mostly to younger people, we made it in the form of an mp3 player. The player part is completely made out of foam. The cover is a printed stretchable textile that can be removed with zippers. The decibel meter is placed in the center of the foam with the LCD display visible and the microphone part hidden in the ‘dial’ knob. The sides of the dial knob have two small holes that allow sound to enter the knob. A headphone can be placed on the knob or in-ears can be inserted into the holes to measure the number of decibels. A heavy aluminum base and pole support the device.
